South African cricket captain Temba Bavuma has denied the fact that he was caught napping during the 2023 World Cup Captain's Meet held earlier today in Ahmedabad. A viral photo from the event seemed to show Bavuma in a nap, but he swiftly attributed it to a misleading camera angle.

The gathering saw the captains of all ten participating teams engage with journalists and broadcasters, building anticipation for the upcoming cricket festival. Bavuma, donning the leadership role for South Africa, was one of the prominent attendees.

The incident unfolded during the Captain's Meet when a picture of Bavuma seemingly napping off started circulating across various social media platforms. Nevertheless, the South African skipper promptly denied any such notions, asserting that it was the camera's perspective that had painted an inaccurate picture.

"I blame the camera angle, I wasn't sleeping," Bavuma said as quoted by Sportskeeda, in response to The Barmy Army's tweet sharing the photo of him.

Despite Bavuma's denial, a group of fans remained unconvinced, with several leaving comments affirming that he appeared to be in a state of relaxation during the event.

Temba Bavuma is all set to lead South Africa for first time in ODI World Cup

Temba Bavuma, set to captain the Proteas for the first time in an ICC ODI World Cup, is poised to lead his team into action this year. South Africa will commence their 2023 World Cup campaign against Sri Lanka on Saturday, October 7, at Delhi's Arun Jaitley Stadium.

Last time India hosted the ODI World Cup, South Africa dominated their group's points table. As the Proteas strive for a repeat performance, cricket enthusiasts eagerly await the unfolding actions on the field.

In preparation for the 2023 World Cup, Temba Bavuma's squad engaged in a warm-up match against New Zealand, ultimately conceding victory to the Blackcaps by seven runs via the D/L method. But in recent times, Proteas have showcased great form in the white ball format and even thrashed the mighty Aussies in a five-match ODI series before coming to India.
