'I feel Superhuman' - Shubman Gill turns Indian Spider-man, lends his voice for upcoming film Spider-Man: Across the Spiderverse
Shubman Gill becomes the first sports player to lend his voice to any movie.
Star India batter Subman Gill is having a great run in the ongoing IPL 2023 as he’s the third-highest run scorer of the season with 469 runs to his name in 11 matches at an average of 46.90. While Gill is no less than a superhero with his bat for Gujarat Titans this season, the star batter has taken his heroic skills off the field as well.
The 23-year-old will be lending his voice to the character ‘Pavitr Prabhakar’ in the upcoming movie ‘Spider-Man Across the Spiderverse’. The movie will be released pan-India and will be showcasing the famous superhero, Spider-Man, in the Indian set-up. The Indian cricketer has lent his voice to the Hindi and Punjabi versions of the film.
In the trailer released by Sony Pictures India, Gill can be seen stuck to the ceiling like a spider with others requesting him to come down. The cricketer finally makes a dramatic entry and delivers the famous dialogue of Spiderman, “Whether you’re a cricketer or a superhero, with great power comes great responsibility,” Gill says in the video.
Sony Pictures India took to Twitter to share the trailer of the film and wrote, “Shub-Man is now Spider-Man! 🕸️🏏Thrilled to have the talented @ShubmanGill as the voice of our very own - Indian Spider-Man, Pavitr Prabhakar in Spider-Man: Across the #SpiderVerse. 102Meanwhile, speaking about his experience of lending his voice Gill said that he finds Spiderman as one of the most relatable superheroes as he grew up watching Spider-man. Furthermore, he is eagerly waiting for the movie to hit theatres both in Hindi and Punjabi languages. Moreover, Gill feels like a superhuman after going through the voice-lending experience.
"I have grown up watching Spider-Man, and he is one of the most relatable superheroes. Already, I feel superhuman. I am eagerly anticipating the release of this movie," Gill was quoted as saying by PinkVilla.
Notably, Gill became the first sports player to lend his voice to any movie made to date. The movie Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse will release in the theatres on June 2, 2023.
Gill's 94* guided GT to a 56-run win against LSG
Meanwhile, Shubman Gill recently scored a splendid 94* off 51 balls in Gujarat Titans’ last fixture against Lucknow Super Giants on Sunday, May 07 at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. After being put in to bat first, Gujarat posted a massive total of 227/2 in the first innings riding on sensational knocks from Gill and Wriddhiman Saha (81 off 43).
In reply, Lucknow could only reach 171/7 in their allotted 20 overs handing a 56-run victory to Gujarat. Quinton de Kock (70 off 41) and Kyle Mayers (48 off 32) were the top scorers for LSG, while Mohit Sharma (4/29) was the pick of the bowlers for Gujarat.
Following their win, GT maintained their top spot on the points table with eight wins from 11 matches. The Hardik Pandya-led side will next lock horns with Mumbai Indians on Friday, May 12, at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
