I kept every bat I scored an international hundred with: Ricky Ponting
Ponting has scored 71 international centuries and ranks third on the list of most tons.
Former Australia skipper Ricky Ponting revealed that he has a collection of bats at his house, which according to him crossed 1000. The 49-year-old added that it includes all the bats he has scored a century with in international cricket. Ponting added that all the bats are in very good shape, with stickers still intact and mentioned that he has inscribed the score and the opposition on the bats he has scored a century with.
The two-time World Cup-winning captain made his international debut against South Africa in February 1995 and after a few months, the cricketer made his Test debut under Mark Taylor and scored 96 runs in his first innings in red-ball cricket against Sri Lanka. He eventually scored a total of 71 international centuries and stands third on the list of most centuries by a cricketer in international cricket. Only Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli are ahead of him.
Speaking about the bats, Ponting also mentioned that technically his bats are not in his house but in the garage that he has.
“Believe it or not, I have still got my first bat at my home. It still has all the stickers and everything on it. We literally have had probably a thousand of bats by now, some are more special than others. I kept every bat I scored an international hundred with and I write on it, the score and who it was against of,” Ponting was quoted as saying by the Hindustan Times.
“Yes, it does (2003 World Cup final bat). It's not like it's displayed in my house. I keep those in my garage,” he added.
