A hot question these days in the cricket world is whether the legendary Indian duo of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will play in next year's T20 World Cup, which is going to be co-hosted by the West Indies and the USA in early June.

The two icons of Indian cricket have not played a T20I after India lost to England in the semifinals of the 2022 T20 World Cup. Ahead of the first Test between India and South Africa, captain Rohit Sharma was asked about his potential participation in the T20 World Cup. The experienced campaigner teased the fans with a trademark cheeky response.

"Whatever opportunity we get , We try to win that. I know what answer you want. Surely you will get it soon," the Mumbai batter said.

India looking for maiden series win in South Africa

Meanwhile, Rohit and Co. have a huge opportunity ahead of them as no Indian team has ever won a Test series on South African soil. The last time India went to the Rainbow Nation, in 2021-2022, Kohli was the skipper and India lost two Tests after making a winning start to the series in Centurion.

This time, the two cricketing giants will play only a couple of Tests. Fans are expecting an exciting series, featuring some of the finest players in red-ball cricket. The two-match Test series also marks a momentous occasion for South African opener Dean Elgar, who will bid adieu to international cricket after the completion of the campaign.
