The Pakistan team played their last Test series of the current WTC cycle against the West Indies where they played two matches, both in Multan. The pitches for these two matches were very much in favour of spinners with considerable turn and bounce being generated right from Day 1.

The two-match series was drawn after the West Indies went on to win the second Test match by 120 runs today. Though Pakistan will be disappointed that they were not able to win the series their captain Shan Masood was happy with the preparations of the players and backed pitches like these, reckoning they should be used in domestic cricket as well. Masood was also happy to be winning three games out of the last four Test matches that they played at home.

“100%. It's a game of all stakeholders. We should also appreciate the players for throwing themselves in the den without preparation. But I think domestic cricket also will be played like this. We won three out of four matches in these conditions, and we dominated the first hour of the first day here as well. It's very important,” Masood said in the post-match presentation ceremony.

“We've seen encouraging signs, batsmen being proactive like Saud and Rizzy getting fifties. Even my fifty was off 60 balls, Babar played proactively as well yesterday. It's about realising that you might not get hundreds here, but even 30s and 40s contribute to winning situations. Kraigg Brathwaite was the ideal example yesterday,” Masood added.

Speaking of Pakistan’s position in the WTC 2023-25 cycle, they finished at the bottom of the table with a PCT of 27.98. Pakistan played 14 matches during this cycle where they won five matches and lost nine. Pakistan are very low in the Test rankings as well where they currently stand at the seventh position.
