I'm ready to bowl death overs in ODIs: Harshit Rana
"I have bowled well in death before. I am ready for it. This format is difficult. You get 10 overs, and you have to play different roles in different phases," Harshit Rana said
India won the first ODI against England on Thursday, February 06 in Nagpur to go 1-0 up in the three-match series. Harshit Rana, who was one of the debutants alongside Yashasvi Jaiswal, contributed with a fine spell, despite being pelted for plenty during the first powerplay. Rana got the better of three English batters - Ben Duckett, Harry Brook, and Liam Livingstone, which played key part in restricting the visitors to 248 in the first innings.
Rana's 3 for 53 in ten overs made him the first Indian bowler to take a minimum of three wickets on his debuts across all formats in international cricket. Opening up on his debut outing in 50-over format, and helping the team contribute in a win, Rana told that he is ready to bowl in different phases of the game for the Indian team, be it the first powerplay, or the death overs.
“I have bowled well in death before. I am ready for it. This format is difficult. You get 10 overs, and you have to play different roles in different phases," he said at the post-match press conference.

Rana’s performances at the death in white ball cricket
The Delhi pacer had proved that he could bowl in the tough overs in the IPL 2024 season, where he played a huge role for Kolkata Knight Riders in winning their third title. Rana took 19 wickets in 13 games during the tournament, finishing as the third-highest wicket-taker for the team after Varun Chakravarthy and Andre Russell.
He showcased his temperament in the fourth T20I against England in Pune where he came in as the Concussion Substitute and ended with figures of 3/33 in his four overs. It is safe to say that Rana has made a great start to his international career and will be hoping he keeps performing for his team in every format he plays.
