IND vs BAN 2024: Bangladesh name 16-member squad for Test series
Najmul Hossain Shanto will lead the Bangla Tigers for the tour.
Ahead of the much-anticipated tour to India, Bangladesh have named their 16-member squad for the two-match Test series on the morning of Thursday, September 12. Seniors like Najmul Hossain Shanto, Shakib Al Hasan, and Mushfiqur Rahim have retained their place in the squad, whereas, Nayeem Hasan and Nahid Rana are the relatively younger inclusions. Notably, Bangladesh will arrive to the neighbourhood land on September 15, which is four days ahead of the first game, slated at the storied MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai. A groin injury which was the same reason why Shoriful Islam missed the second Test against Pakistan ruled him out of the upcoming tour.
Hosts India, on the other hand, are slated to arrive in Chennai by Thursday evening, and thus, will get at least three extra days in the host city to get used to the conditions. India have already named their 15-member squad, a day after the end of Duleep Trophy first round.
Bangladesh's squad for the tour was confirmed by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) through a social media release.

Bangladesh stage a strong case for WTC Final qualification
Speaking of the latest World Test Championship 2023-25 points table, Bangladesh moved to the fourth spot after whitewashing Pakistan in the two Tests at Rawalpindi. With six more Tests remaining in their current cycle, winning at least four of them could well make it possible for them to secure a berth for the ultimate clash in June 2025. India, who top the table currently, are also set to make their third straight appearance for the WTC finale, this time at Lord's Cricket Ground from June 11 to 15, 2025.
