IND vs SL: Dilshan Madushanka dislocates right shoulder, likely to miss 2nd ODI in Kolkata

Sri Lanka pacer Dilshan Madushanka dislocated his right shoulder in the first ODI against India at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati. The Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) board confirmed the development after the pacer suffered the blow while diving in the outfield in the first innings of the contest. 

The Islanders endured a 67-run loss in the first 50-over contest and have handed the lead to the hosts 1-0 in the three-match series. In the midst of the contest, Madhushanka injured himself during the Indian batting innings, and later the SLC provided an update on the injury and added that the management will soon decide if the player would participate in the remainder of the series.

“Dilshan Madushanka dislocated his right shoulder while diving in the outfield during the 1st ODI. He was sent for an X-ray and MRI. Upon receiving the said reports, the team management will decide on the future course of action,” SLC shared the update on Twitter.

The pacer bowled six overs in the contest prior to injuring his shoulder and gave away 43 runs at an economy of 7.16 and picked up one wicket.

Chamika Karunaratne injured upper lip during 1st ODI

The Lankan Lions endured another blow as another pacer- Chamika Karunaratne injured his upper lip after being struck by the ball prior to the toss of the first ODI. The medical staff assessed his situation and directed him to receive three stitches before the match began.

“Chamika Karunaratne's upper lip was injured after being struck by a ball just before the toss of the first ODI. He received three stitches and took part in the game as per the recommendation of the team's medical staff. He is expected to be available for the second ODI,” SLC added.

Eventually, the pacer took part in the contest and is also expected to join the side in the upcoming ODI clash in Kolkata. The Islanders will be on the lookout to obtain a result in their favour and get level in the series on January 12.
