IND vs SL: Rohit Sharma unleashes beast mode, takes Kasun Rajitha to cleaners
Having played three dots on the first three deliveries of the over the India skipper unleashed beast mode and hammered the fourth delivery over mid wicket for a six.
India skipper Rohit Sharma was in his elements in the ongoing third ODI between India and Sri Lanka at the Greenfield Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram on Sunday, January 15, when he took seamer Kasun Rajitha to the cleaners with poise.
Batting in the tenth over of the innings after electing to bat, Rohit was up against Kasun Rajitha. Having played three dots on the first three deliveries of the over the India skipper unleashed beast mode and hammered the fourth delivery over mid wicket for a six.
It was a slightly short ball, just fraction back of a length from Rajitha and wasn't a bad delivery as such. But Rohit, who is known to have a liking for short balls, was too good to miss out on the opportunity. He latched on to the ball and unleashed a clean pull shot and deposited the ball over the fence.
Rajitha tried rectifying his error and bowled a slightly fuller delivery next up but ended up bowing too full. Rohit presented his full face of the bat and played a lofted drive over the mid-off region for another maximum.
Former India left-arm orthodox bowler Murali Kartik who was on-air commentating during the over was also left spellbound by the second six of the over.
"How do you describe that? Apart from saying shot!," Kartik said on-air.
Rohit was not done for the over yet as he capitalised on another misdirected delivery from Rajitha and placed it between mid-on and mid-wicket for a boundary to aggregate 16 runs from the over. Unfortunately for Rohit, he couldn't make the most of the promising start and got out at an individual score of 42 on the second delivery of the 16th over.
Rohit's strength led to his undoing as he perished while playing a pull off Chamika Karunaratne's bowling and ended up timing it perfectly into the hands of the deep backward square leg fielder.
