India to tour Ireland for three T20Is post West Indies tour
As per the ICC release, India and Ireland take on each in a three match T20I series that begins on August 18.
India are all set to tour Ireland for three T20I matches after their tour of the West Indies. It was revealed that both sides will be facing each other in August. As per an ICC (International Cricket Council) release, the series between India and Ireland will begin on August 18 and be wrapped up by August 23.
It is also worth noting that before the series, team India will be going up against the West Indies in a multi-format series that is scheduled to begin on July 12. Both sides will compete in two Test matches, and three ODIs, and finish the series with five T20I matches.
The BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) is yet to confirm the dates for the side’s Ireland tour; however, the ICC release stated that the series will be held in the latter stages of August in Malahide. The last time India faced Ireland in a T20I series was in June 2022. As per Cricket Ireland, the schedule for the series will be -
Match No. | Date | Venue | Time (IST) |
1st T20I | August 18 | Malahide | 3 PM |
2nd T20I | August 20 | Malahide | 3 PM |
3rd T20I | August 23 | Malahide | 3 PM |
Hardik Pandya led the team in the series due to the absence of many senior players who were competing against England in the Test series. In their last series, India defeated Ireland 2-0, and it could be interesting to see if the Men in Blue can put in a similar performance in August.
Our sincere thanks to the BCCI: Chief Executive of Cricket Ireland Warren Deutrom
Ahead of the series, the Chief Executive of Cricket Ireland, Warren Deutrom, came forward to thank the BCCI for touring Ireland and expressed his excitement over the prospect of facing the Indian side.
"We’re delighted to welcome India Men back to Ireland for the second time in 12 months, We saw two sold-out matches in 2022, so to have a three-match series this year should give even more fans the opportunity to enjoy what is always a memorable occasion," Warren Deutrom was quoted as saying by IndiaToday.
"Our sincere thanks to the BCCI, first, for their continued inclusion of Ireland in the Indian team’s busy itinerary and also for working with us to ensure as fan-friendly a schedule a possible – having matches on a Friday and Sunday will hopefully maximise availability of fans," he added.
