Rohit Sharma-led team India kickstarted 2023 off with a banger as the side registered a series sweep of 3-0 to the Islanders and a 2-1 win in the T20Is under the leadership of Hardik Pandya. On the other hand, the Blackcaps won the ODI series against Pakistan 2-1 away from home prior to drawing both the red-ball matches.

The two heavyweights last clashed just after the conclusion of the T20 World Cup 2022 in November as the Men in Blue emerged victorious in the T20I series 1-0 whereas the Kiwis clinched the ODI series 1-0. As the two sides lock horns once again, Rohit Sharma and Co. will look to obtain results in their favour, especially in the 50-over format considering the ODI World Cup is on the horizon.
