'Indian pacers look best in the world' - Wasim Akram after India's sensational win over England
"Starting from the leader of the pack Bumrah, Siraj ran in and Shami did the last nail in the coffin for England," said Wasim Akram after India's victory.
Wasim Akram has hiled Indian speedsters Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammad Shami, and Mohammed Siraj as the ‘best in the world’. Bumrah and Shami's dynamic new-ball spell demolished England in the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 league stage, securing a crucial victory for India in Lucknow on October 29. Together, the duo scalped seven of the ten wickets in a remarkable bowling performance. Particularly, Shami has nine wickets to his name after just two games in the tournament.
The former Pakistan pacer praised India's fast bowlers, stating that they shattered England's confidence by defending a modest total on a challenging pitch. He highlighted India's exceptional performance after being asked to bat first, underscoring their brilliant execution against a spirited England batting lineup.
"Indian pacers look brilliant, they look best in the world starting from the leader of the pack Bumrah, Siraj ran in and Shami did the last nail in the coffin for England. We all thought that India was lagging and England had a chance but the wicket was different from what we usually have seen in this World Cup. The pitch was difficult to bat on especially when India was batting," Akram said on 'A Sports' program.

Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami turn it around for India
Akram observed the exceptional performances of Bumrah and Shami as they dismantled the English batting order. Despite India's unusual struggle with the bat, posting a mere 229/9 on a dry turner, their seamers roared to life, skittling England for a mere 129 runs. The turnaround was a testament to India's resilience and the bowlers' prowess.
Bumrah ignited the match by taking crucial wickets of Dawid Malan and Joe Root in succession. He later sealed the victory by delivering a pinpoint yorker that breached tailender Mark Wood's defense. Meanwhile, Shami's exceptional performance saw him dismantle England's middle-order as he secured match-winning four-wicket haul. It was arguably one of his finest white-ball spells, characterized by precise lengths and an attacking strategy.
