Indian Veteran Premier League to kick-off from February 23 in Dehradun
The T20 tournament which is presented by the BVCI and organized by the IPCA will provide an opportunity for veteran cricket players above 40 years old.
The inaugural edition of the Indian Veteran Premier League (IVPL) is set to begin on February 23 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Dehradun. The T20 tournament which is presented by the Board of Veteran Cricket India (BVCI) and organized by the Indian Power Cricket Academy (IPCA) will provide an opportunity for veteran cricket players above 40 years old.
Experienced cricketers like Virender Sehwag, Suresh Raina, Chris Gayle, Praveen Kumar, Yusuf Pathan, and Herschelle Gibbs, among others, will take part in the IVPL to showcase their cricketing skills and relive their passion for the game. The tournament will witness six teams- VVIP Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan Legends, Red Carpet Delhi, Chhattisgarh Warriors, Telangana Tigers, and Mumbai Champions. All six teams in the IVPL will get the services of four to five iconic players from across the World.
Praveen Tyagi, the Acting President of BVCI and Chairman of IVPL has provided the update on the IVPL while also assuring the participation of Gayle, Sehwag, and Suresh Raina. He stated that the forthcoming tournament will bring a burst of energy to BVCI.
"We are trying to create one of the best League in India after IPL, we have added the World's best cricketers for the stature of Veteran Cricket, such as Chris Gayle, Virender Sehwag, Suresh Raina. This will infuse a new energy for Veteran Cricket in India as well as it will work like magic for Veteran Cricketers, who are living their passion for playing with International Cricketers from the World," Tyagi said.
"We are excited for our first season which will be a highly attended event, all live matches on Euro Sports, DD Sports and FANCODE too, many other exciting Opportunities for the First season, just wait for the Magic to unfold on February 23 to March 3," he added.
