Former Indian opener Virender Sehwag, who holds the mark for two triple centuries for Indian Test cricket, passed over greats like Rahul Dravid, VS Laxman, and Sourav Ganguly, as well as Sri Lankan iconic players Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardene to pick his favourite middle-order batter. These players have amassed a plethora of runs during international cricket but Sehwag instead favoured the former captain of the Pakistan men's cricket team as Asia's biggest middle-order batter.

The 44-year-old Sehwag, who created a record by emerging as the first Indian player to make a triple century in Test cricket, hailed former Men in Green captain Inzamam-ul-Haq and asserted that there was no bigger middle-order hitter than him from Asia. He hailed his colleague by calling him an outstanding batsman. He added that Inzamam remained quite assured while batting and did not freak out under stressful circumstances.

Inzamam was highly secure and did not stress: Sehwag

"Inzi bhai bahut sweet hai. Sab log baat krte hai Sachin Tendulkar li lekin mai Inzama-ul-Haq Asia ka middle order ka sabse bada batsman maanta hoon. Kyunki Tendulkar toh woh batsman ki league se upar he chale gaye hai, unko toh count he nahi krte hum. Jitne bhi aur desho ke ballebaaz aate hain middle order ke, unmein unse better ballebaaz nhi dekha. Us zamane mein, 20023-04 mein vo 8 8 run ki average baatein krte the ki chinta mat kar aaram se bana lunga. 10 over mein 80 run koi aur team aur player panic kar jate he pr vo kehte the ki bann jayenge chinta mat karo," Sehwag said in the recent episode of Breakfast With Champions.

(Inzi bhai was very, very sweet. Everyone talks about Sachin Tendulkar, but I believe that Inzamam-ul-Haq is the biggest middle-order batter in Asia because Tendulkar is beyond the league of batters. We don't count Sachin among the batters. He's not even counted among humans. The ones in between whether the batter is from India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, or Bangladesh among them, I haven't seen anyone better than him. At that time in 2003-04 at 8 runs per over he used to say, 'Don't worry. We'll get it easily.' I mean with 80 runs in ten overs any other team would panic, and any other player would panic. He'd just say, 'We'll do it, don't worry.')

Inzamam, who made his international debut for Pakistan in 1991, was an integral part of the 1992 squad that lifted the ODI World Cup. He played for his country in a total of 378 ODIs and 120 Tests, in which he amassed 11,739 and 8830 runs, respectively.
