IPL 2023: AB de Villiers and Chris Gayle reveal their top four finishers for 16th edition

AB de Villiers and Chris Gayle, two of the most renowned names of the sport recently made a bold prediction as to who they think can make it to the top four of IPL 2023 after the league stage.

The 16th edition of the Indian Premier League is about to get underway on Friday, March 31 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad with defending champions Gujarat Titans set to take on four-time champions Chennai Super Kings. The T20 carnival is one of the most sought-after T20 tournaments that exist in the world because of its magnitude.

 The return of the T20 spectacle has fans buzzing with excitement and the chain of predictions as to who will make it to the top four on the IPL points table of the mouthwatering event at the end of the league stage has also got some of the legends of the sports involved in it.

AB de Villiers and Chris Gayle, two of the most renowned names of the sport recently made a bold prediction as to who they think can make it to the top four of IPL 2023 after the league stage. Former Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) players picked their top four for the nearly two-month-long event.

While de Villiers mentioned RCB, Chennai, Hyderabad and Gujarat to finish in the top four, Gayle on the other hand picked Lucknow Super Giants, Gujarat Titans, Mumbai Indians and Rajasthan Royals to go all the way to the top four.

The duo was recently inducted into the RCB hall of fame on March 26 in Bangalore. While de Villiers joined the franchise in 2011 after being a part of Delhi Daredevils initially (now Delhi Capitals) and played till 2021 before announcing his IPL retirement.

Meanwhile, Gayle also joined the Royal Challengers Bangalore camp in 2011 but as Dirk Nannes' injury replacement after going unsold at the auction.

The duo played a phenomenal role for the franchise as they racked truckloads of runs and made sure that RCB gave tough competition to every franchise every time they stepped on the field. In fact, Gayle recorded his highest-ever T20 score while playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore against Pune Warriors India in 2013.
