IPL 2023: Ravindra Jadeja reveals his cricketing journey has revolved between two ‘Mahendras’
MS Dhoni-led Chennai lock horns with defending champions Gujarat Titans in the curtain raiser on Friday, March 31.
Team India star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has played a pivotal role in the Chennai Super Kings setup over the last decade. Ahead of the forthcoming edition of the all-exciting Indian Premier League (IPL), Jadeja revealed the ‘Mahendra’ connection in his cricketing journey.
During a show on Star Sports called ‘Stars on Star’, the all-rounder made quite a few interesting statements regarding his career in cricket. The CSK southpaw stated that his cricketing journey revolved around two ‘Mahendras’ citing his coach and current skipper of the franchise.
“I told this to Mahi (MS Dhoni) bhai, that my cricketing journey has been between Mahendra Singh Chauhan, my coach in Jamnagar and Mahendra Singh Dhoni, my captain at CSK. My cricketing journey has really been between these two Mahendras,” revealed Jadeja in a segment on Star Sports.
Jadeja is set to join forces with Dhoni once again in the 16th edition of the IPL as Chennai will lock horns with the defending champions Gujarat Titans in the curtain raiser on Friday, March 31.
Used to love being a fast bowler: Ravindra Jadeja
Jadeja made another interesting statement on the preview show as he opened up on his ambition to be a pacer. However, the star all-rounder also added that he did not have the ‘speed’ to play the role of a fast bowler.
“When I started playing cricket long back, I used to love being a fast bowler. I used to love seeing other fast bowlers bowling bouncers. Watching them, even I used to think that I would also bowl bouncers to batters, but I didn’t have the speed to be a fast bowler,” added Jadeja.
Notably, the southpaw is the third-highest wicket-taker in the CSK team with 114 wickets in 143 innings, which includes three four-wicket hauls and one five-for. In addition to this, the flamboyant all-rounder has aggregated 1596 runs in 112 innings donning the yellow outfit. CSK will be gunning to get back their glory days especially after the dismal season they endured last edition.
