IPL 2024: Gujarat Titans 1st Innings Highlights against PBKS in Match 17
Gujarat Titans went berserk in the final few overs to post a mammoth 199/4 vs Punjab Kings at the picturesque Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Gujarat Titans (GT) welcomed Punjab Kings (PBKS) at the famed Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Thursday, April 04. Both sides were coming into the game in contrasting styles. GT had beaten Sunrisers Hyderabad at home, while PBKS had lost to Lucknow Supergiants to record their 2nd loss of the season.
Visiting skipper Shikhar Dhawan won the toss and chose to bowl first, as Sikandar Raza came in for the injured Liam Livingstone. David Miller missed the game due to fitness issues, making way for Kane Williamson in the starting XI for the Shubman Gill-led side.
Gujarat Titans: 50 runs in 5.4 overs
Openers Wriddhiman Saha and Gill gave Gujarat a perfect start to the innings. Kagiso Rabada then got the senior of the two before Kane Williamson arrived. The fifty came with a beautiful boundary off Sam Curran in the last over of the powerplay.
Powerplay 1: Overs 0.1 to 6 (Mandatory -52/1)
Skipper Shubman Gill hit two crisp four and a six to get going. Wriddhiman Saha was out for 11 runs off 13 balls as the veteran star failed to get going with the bat.

After starting their batting innings well, GT saw PBKS bowlers pull things back in their control. Williamson and Gill were circumspect ahead of the 1st time-out.
Gujarat Titans: 100 runs in 11.4 overs
Sai Sudharsan, coming in at 4, opened up his arms and hit boundaries after a few overs of lull. One such boundary brought up the 100-run milestone for the Titans.
Strategic Timeout 2: Gujarat Titans 123/3 (14 overs)
After playing a few crisp shots, the southpaw was out for 33 caught behind by Jitesh Sharma off Harshal Patel. This got Vijay Shankar to the wicket in a surprising move.
Half-century: Shubman Gill (Off 31 balls)
There was a massive cheer as Gujarat Titans hit Harpreet Brar for a four to reach his half-century. This was Gill’s first fifty of IPL 2024 and the 19th of his sensational career n the illustrious league's history.
Gujarat Titans: 150 runs in 16.4 overs
The home fans finally found their voice as Shubman Gill started to time the ball to all parts of the ground. With a six in the 4th ball of the 17th over off Patel, the hosts breached the 150-run mark.

Rahul Tewatia came out and swung his bat to give the much-needed impetus for Gujarat Titans. Gill's captain's knock propelled his side to a respectable total against Punjab.
