Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) will host Mumbai Indians (MI) in match 60 of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 at the iconic Eden Gardens on Saturday, May 11. This is going to be the final home match of KKR this season. The sports-loving fans in Kolkata have filled the stadium in every game and the same can be expected on Saturday.

The hosts have been playing some excellent cricket this season and are currently placed at the top of the table with eight wins from 11 matches. A win on Saturday will make them the first team to qualify for the playoffs in IPL 2024. Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians were the first team to get eliminated this season but the five-time champions will want to finish their campaign with wins in their last two matches.

Meanwhile, it has sporadically rained in Kolkata over the week and fans will have an eye on the weather ahead of the match.

What will happen if KKR vs MI game washes out?

According to AccuWeather, there is a 71% chance of rain around 2pm. The chance drops down to 20% around 7:30pm when the match is scheduled to begin. Around 8pm, the cloud cover is expected to be 90% and wind gusts will be around 19 kmph. The promising aspect is that Eden Gardens possesses one of the best drainage facilities in the country and it won't take much time to clean up even if there are rain interruptions. If not a full 40-over match, fans can at least expect some cricket on Saturday.

According to IPL 2024 Playing Conditions, when playing time has been lost, the revised number of overs to be bowled in the match shall be based on a rate of 14.11 overs per hour in the total remaining time available for play. The match, slated to commence at the usual time of 7:30 pm, will start losing overs from exactly one hour post the original time of the start of play (8:30 pm), in the case of rain delaying the start of play.

Eden Gardens is a batting paradise these days and in IPL 2024, the venue has witnessed some very high-scoring encounters. If weather permits, fans can expect another run-fest on Saturday.
