IPL 2024: RR vs SRH Weather Report - What will happen if Qualifier 2 is washed out?

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) lost their first opportunity to reach the finals of the ongoing IPL 2024 as they lost comprehensivelybto Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by eight wickets in the Qualifier 1. But the Pat Cummins-led side has another chance to reach the finals of the cash-rich league. In the game against KKR, SRH were dominated by the Kolkata side as they chased down a target of 160 with ease.

Next, they would face Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the iconic MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Friday, May 24. Sanju Samson and Co. as they beat Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the Eliminator game on Wednesday evening. The Rajasthan-based franchise chased down a 173-run target with four wickets and an over to spare.

Meanwhile, this is the second time RR  will take on SRH this season. The two franchises met at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad earlier, when the hosts managed a nail-biting one-run victory. Both the sides have a rich history as they took on each other in the Eliminator game of the 2013 edition, where the Royals clinched a four-wicket victory.

What if RR vs SRH is washed out?

Despite the majority of India experiencing heavy rainfall, Chennai has remained relatively dry. The match is expected to proceed without any disruptions from the weather. However, in any case, if it is disrupted due to rain the team with the better standing in the league will secure a spot in the finals, while the losing team will eventually be eliminated from contention.

In that case, Hyderabad, who finished second on the points table will qualify for the finals and contest against KKR at the same venue on May 26. As per AccuWeather, the temperature in the evening is expected to be moderate in Chennai and the wind will gust around 37 km/h. There will be cloud cover of 99% and there will be dew towards the fag end of the match.
