IPL 2024: SRH record most sixes in IPL innings amid Chinnaswamy showdown against RCB
SRH posted a mammoth 287 runs in the first innings at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
In a remarkable showdown during the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL 2024), Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) shattered records by hammering the most sixes in a single innings against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). The match, which was hosted at the packed M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, glimpsed an onslaught of boundaries and towering sixes from SRH's top-order batters, leaving the spectators ecstatic and the opposition reeling.
After being asked to bat first, SRH continued their aggressive approach, with opening batters Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head unleashing a relentless charge on the RCB bowlers from the onset. SRH smashed an unbelievable 22 maximums, with centurion Head contributing eight and Heinrich Klaasen adding seven to the total. In addition, the innings saw a total of 19 boundaries, showcasing the 2016 champions' dominance in the current tournament.
Previously, RCB held the record for most sixes in an innings, achieving 21 sixes in the match against Pune Warriors India (now defunct) in 2013 at the same ground. Meanwhile, three other matches tied for the third spot, each witnessed a total of 20 sixes in a single innings. These matches were held in 2016 between RCB and GL, in 2017 again between RCB and GL, and the most recent clash between MI and SRH in 2024.

SRH sets new IPL record with highest total score in single innings
On Monday, April 15, Sunrisers Hyderabad, broke their own record, during the clash against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, achieving the highest total in a single innings. They posted 287 runs, surpassing their previous record of 277 runs against Mumbai Indians in the ongoing IPL season.
After being put in to bat first, SRH's opening duo of Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head spearheaded the innings, forging a formidable 108-run partnership. Reece Topley managed to provide a breakthrough for the home side, dismissing Abhishek for 34 runs in the ninth over. Unfortunately, it was insufficient for RCB to gain control of the match, as the Australian showcased his prowess with a stupendous innings of 102 runs off just 41 deliveries, featuring nine fours and eight sixes. Before being dismissed by Lockie Ferguson, he also crafted a 57-run partnership with Heinrich Klaasen for the second wicket.

The seasoned wicketkeeper-batter struck 67 off just 37 deliveries, including two boundaries and seven maximums. Meanwhile, Aiden Markram and Abdul Samad contributed unbeaten knocks of 32 and 37, respectively, and propelled SRH to a mammoth total, thereby establishing a new IPL record.
