In their penultimate game of the Indian Premier League 2024 season, the Punjab Kings decided to try out Nathan Ellis. An injury to Kagiso Rabada gave an opportunity to the Australian to perform in the biggest franchise league. He showed his class once again as he conceded just 24 runs off his four overs and scalped a wicket as well. The Australian pacer was a key part of the line-up last year but got only a sole game this season. Therefore it would be fair to say that he was severely underutilized by the Punjab Kings franchise.

After an amazing debut for Team India in Tests, everyone was convinced that Akash Deep would be partnering with Mohammed Siraj in the 2024 season of the Indian Premier League. However, some poor performances meant that he was dropped by the franchise and could only muster a few games this season. He was one of the key performers last season and should have been given a longer rope in this edition of the tournament as well.
