IPL 2025: Rajasthan Royals retained players, released players and purse remaining ahead of mega auction

Inaugural champions of the IPL (Indian Premier League) Rajasthan Royals are all set for the latest edition of the IPL auction. Ahead of the IPL 2025, the 10 franchises will take part in the mega auction as the various sides will undergo some major shakeup. 

One such side would be Rajasthan Royals. Ever since the 2022 mega auction, Rajasthan Royals has been one of the best performing sides in the tournament. Reaching the summit clash in 2022, Royals missed out on the final in 2024 and barely missed out on the knockout stages in 2023. 

Under Sanju Samson’s leadership, Royals has flourished, and with the IPL 2025 mega auction approaching, the inaugural champions will hope to rope in the best players in their arsenal and get their hands on their second IPL title. 

It is worth noting that Rajasthan Royals have several star players in their arsenal, however, the side has retained four core members of the team in Sanju Samson, Sandeep Sharma, Riyan Parag, and Yashasvi Jaiswal. The likes of Jos Buttler, Trent Boult, R Ashwin, and many more have been let go. It seems like Royals will depend a lot on the RTM cards available. 

In the IPL 2024, Rajasthan Royals finished in third place in the standings, with 14 matches played, Royals won eight matches and lost five, with one game producing no result. Finishing third, Royals were eliminated after they lost Qualifier 2 of the tournament to Sunrisers Hyderbad. 

Despite a star studded lineup and looking like favourites towards the early stages of the tournament, the Sanju Samson-led side faltered once more. However, with the mega auction approaching, the side will hope to improve with a revamped squad ahead of the tournament.
