Which prominent players went unsold in IPL 2024 auction?
The IPL 2024 mini-auction saw several players being sold for massive amounts as Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins scripted history after becoming the top two most expensive players in the history of the auction being sold for INR 24.75 Crore and INR 20.5 Crore respectively. However, there were a few big names which also failed to attract any buyers and went unsold. Letās take a look at them:
1. Steve Smith ā The star Australia batter came into the auction with a base price of INR 2 Crore. However, he failed to attract any buyers even in the accelerated round despite consistently scoring for Sydney Sixers in the Big Bash League 2022.

However, despite his impressive numbers in his short T20I career, Salt failed to attract any buyers at a base price of INR 1.50 Crore.
3. Josh Hazlewood ā The Australian fast bowler is one of the most sought-after seamers with his consistent performances across formats. However, due to his unavailability in March-April, he failed to find any bidders during the auction. Notably, Hazlewood is expecting his first child with his wife and hence will be spending some time with his family and will be available from the first week of May.
4. Josh Inglis ā The wicketkeeper batter recently scored a sensational hundred in the first T20I against India in Visakhapatnam. Inglis scored the joint fastest hundred by an Australian in 47 balls and played magnificent innings of (110 off 50) showcasing his big-hitting prowess. However, despite his impressive show, he failed to find any bidders during the auction and went unsold with a base price of INR 2 Crore.
5. Tabraiz Shamsi ā The left-arm wrist spinner is one of the top spinners in the world in T20Is having scalped 78 wickets from 65 innings at an average of 22.20 and an economy of 7.38. The 33-year-old was recently awarded Player of the Match in the second T20I against India with figures of 1/18 in four overs.
