Rumours were rife over phase two of the Indian Premier League 2024 being shifted to the United Arab Emirates. The BCCI had recently announced that the IPL 2024 will be held in two phases. It also released the fixtures of the first phase. The initial phase will commence on March 22 and will conclude on April 7.  The phase will see 21 matches being played across 11 cities.

Now the IPL Chairman, Arun Dhumal has quashed the rumours of IPL 2024’s second phase being shifted to Dubai. Though, India is on the brink of one of the biggest democratic events, and the concerns over providing security for IPL simultaneously would be keenly heard about. Dhumal emphasized maintaining the status quo and assured that the cash-rich league would take place in India.

"We are working closely with the government agencies, as soon as the dates of general elections are announced, we will figure out the further plan & hopefully the 2nd phase of IPL will take place in India only, it's not going anywhere else,” said Dhumal as quoted by One Cricket.

Election Commission announces dates as IPL looks to sneak in

The Election Commission on Saturday announced the dates of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. According to the commission, the elections will begin on April 19 and the counting of votes shall take place on June 4. The election will be held in seven phases across the country. It would be interesting to see how organisers of the IPL will tackle the jampacked schedule, and pull off a yearly spectacle for the league's fans.

This marks the 17th season of the IPL and the league will feature 74 games, which also feature 10 teams from different cities. The inaugural game of the 2024 season will see Chennai Super Kings exchange blows with Royal Challengers Bangalore at Chepauk Stadium on March 22. CSK are defending champions as they clinched a closely-fought thriller against Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad.
