Ireland will kickstart their Bangladesh tour with ODI series
Ireland's visit to Bangladesh will start with ODIs, an official source from the Bangladesh Cricket Board has confirmed.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board have confirmed that Ireland’s visit to Bangladesh in March will begin with an ODI series
Ireland is set to come to Bangladesh for a full fledged tour for the very first time. The schedule will include three ODIs, three T20Is and a one-off Test match. This series will surely fill the stadium with a huge number of spectators and can be a very profitable series for both the full member nations.
The three match ODI series between Ireland and Bangladesh is set to be played from March 18, at the Sylhet International stadium (SLI). Thereafter, the teams will shift their focus to Chattogram for the three match T20I series to be played at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium from March 26. The one off test-match is scheduled to begin from April 4, at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium, Dhaka.
Nadel Chowdhury, representative of Sylhet Division in the Bangladesh Cricket Board and BCB's women's wing chairman, confirmed the tour news to Cricbuzz. He said that, “Yes, Ireland will begin the tour with the ODI series that will be played in Sylhet and we are fully prepared for it.”
The Irish team is scheduled to arrive in Bangladesh for the tour around March 12 or March 13 and will begin their preparations sooner rather than later. The Test match might just be preponed by a day, so that their senior players can leave for the IPL, which most likely commence from the last week of March or the first week of April.
Bangladesh will have a tough home season since they are set to host England as well before Ireland. The hosts will play three ODIs and three T20Is between March 1 and March 14 against the English team. This series will be vital for both the nations leading up to the upcoming ODI world cup.
