Ishan Kishan shattered a lot of records when he recorded his first double century in ODIs against Bangladesh a few days ago and scored the quickest double ton in history. The 24-year-old had now become a strong contender for the opening slot although veteran Shikhar Dhawan is the preferred opening choice partner to Rohit Sharma.

With the World Cup around in an year time, Kishan will have to keep scoring the big centuries whenever he gets his chances. Interestingly, the legendary MS Dhoni took a while to get going in ODIs at the start of his career, however, he scored a mammoth 183* against Sri Lanka which sealed his place in the side. Another aspect of Kishan’s batting is his explosiveness at the top reminding of the former Australian batter Adam Gilchrist who has been deemed as one of the greatest wicketkeeper-batters of all time.

While speaking in an interview recently, Kishan revealed his biggest inspiration between MS Dhoni and Adam Gilchrist and highlighted the reason behind it.

He helped me a lot with how to take care of yourself: Ishan Kishan

Kishan noted that Dhoni has always been his biggest inspiration without a doubt and revealed his love for Gilchrist’ batting. He further highlighted the impact Dhoni has had on and off the field in the players.

“MS Dhoni, for sure because I love Gilchrist’s batting and wicketkeeping, but Dhoni bhai I’ve seen him all around. What he does off the field and on the field. The calmness and everything, the way he meets everyone, these things also matter in life. How you function, how you get to know about such a big player, and who functions in what way. So, I think he has helped me a lot with how to take care of yourself when you’re being around so many people,” Ishan Kishan told in an interview with One Cricket.

Meanwhile, Kishan had a good start to the Ranji Trophy 2022-23 season for Jharkhand with a 132-run knock against Kerala.
