It seems Deepak Chahar will be out for 4-5 games: Suresh Raina

Even though Chennai Super Kings managed to beat Mumbai Indians by a comfortable margin in their last game in IPL 2023, there are some concerns that the team management needs to address immediately. All-rounders Ben Stokes and Moeen Ali didn’t take part in their seven-wicket win against MI while Deepak Chahar had to leave the field early after sustaining an injury while bowling.
The pacer bowled only one over in the match and may miss a couple of games after his left hamstring injury seemed to have resurfaced once again. Notably, due to a back injury, he was ruled out of the last edition of the tournament and because of the same, he was far away in the pecking order during the T20 World Cup 2022.
Meanwhile, talking about Chahar’s injury, CSK legend Suresh Raina believes that the pacer can miss at least four to five matches in the ongoing season. He also reminded that since Chennai is far away from other venues, the team will have to travel a lot and it can play a part in players getting injured.
“It seems Deepak will be out for 4-5 games. It looks like he has again sustained hamstring injury and looked in discomfort. All the other IPL venues are far off from Chennai and there will be lot of travelling involved,” Raina said while doing commentary for Jio Cinema.
Tushar Deshpande has a lot of potential, he can improve by being more consistent: Dhoni
The 27-year-old Tushar Deshpande had a mixed season so far in the IPL. In the match against Gujarat, he leaked a lot of runs but improved significantly since then. Skipper MS Dhoni has kept his faith in the cricketer and stated that he carries a lot of potential but there’s still room for improvement.
“We believe in him, and when you're new you are under pressure but playing in the IPL for a few years brings different pressure. He had a great domestic season, he is improving. He has a lot of potential but he can improve by not bowling those no-balls, and by being more consistent,” Dhoni was quoted as saying by NDTV.
