‘It was very, very unacceptable’ - Kagiso Rabada reflects on Proteas stars missing Test series due to SA20

Star Proteas pacer Kagiso Rabada has recently grabbed every headlines after he came forward to talk of the recent scheduling fiasco that South Africa cricket went through. Recently, first-team international players opted to compete in the SA20 and missed out on the side’s tour to New Zealand. 

It is worth noting that for the Test series against New Zealand, Neil Brand led the Proteas, and the side expectedly lost the series, losing valuable points in the World Test Championship table. 

Talking about the same, Rabada branded it as a scheduling issue. The same caused widespread criticism of Cricket South Africa and how they are killing the spirit of Test cricket.

"It was very, very unacceptable and remains unacceptable to date. It was obviously a planning issue. It is unacceptable, that is all I would say about that," Rabada was quoted as saying by India TV.

"If I can go back on that point it is not fair to go at the players. It is not fair to say that players are being picked and they got free Test caps. I don't think it is fair to put that criticism on the players. They simply got asked to go there, and at the end of the day they are not going to say no," he added.

It is great what the BCCI is doing to incentivise Test players: Rabada

Furthermore, Rabada heaped praise on the BCCI for their constant effort to keep the longest format alive. He added that the BCCI incentivising players, who play more Test matches in a year, is a great initiative. 

"You pay cricketers (well) but it is a culture as well. It is not just about the money because the money these days the cricketers are blessed with. They can make enough money through the leagues. It is great what the BCCI is doing to incentivise Test players. But it is also a culture as all cricket comes from Test cricket," Rabada said.
