Royal Challengers Bangalore suffered an embarrassing defeat against Mumbai Indians in an all-important clash at the Wankhede Stadium on May 9. Following the defeat RCB have dimmed their chances of qualification for the playoffs as they have slipped to the seventh spot on the IPL 2023 points table.

Kohli himself failed to contribute in the match with the bat as he was dismissed for a score of just 1 run. The fans had turned up in huge numbers in anticipation to see some of Kohli’s magic on the ground but were left disappointed. Amid all the chatters which have been going around about his strike rate as well as his on-field banters, the former RCB skipper took to Twitter and posted a strong-willed post in which he spoke his mind.

"The competition is all in your head. In reality, it's always you vs you," Kohli wrote in a post while sharing a picture that seemed to be clicked from some ad shoot. The RCB stalwart has often been under the spotlight right from his young days. In this year’s IPL also Kohli came into the news for his ‘no handshake’ moment with Sourav Ganguly as well as his heated exchange with Naveen-ul-Haq and Gautam Gambhir.

Also, some of the experts want Kohli to improve his T20 strike rate feeling that it is slightly on the lower side considering the brand of T20 cricket that is being played now. Answering to the same the star Indian batter responded by stating that the role of an anchor in T20 is very much essential.

In a chat with Robin Uthappa on JioCinema, Kohli had said: "Yeah for sure (important anchor role). I completely agree with that, there are many people who because they have not been in that situation themselves, look at the game differently."

The 34-year-old also asserted his views by saying, "Suddenly when the powerplay is done, they will be like 'Oh, they have started rotating the strike'. When you haven't lost a wicket in the powerplay, usually the best player comes on to bowl, you are trying to figure out what to do against him in the first two overs so that you can get big ones in the last two overs of that guy and then rest of the innings become much easier," he concluded.
