Star Indian pace-bowling spearhead, Jasprit Bumrah, won the ICC Cricketer of the Year 2024 award at the ICC Awards on January 28. Bumrah played a total of 13 Tests and eight ODIs last year. He secured 71 and 15 wickets, respectively.

As a result, Bumrah became only the fifth Indian cricketer to win the aforementioned accolade. The right-arm quick from India was quick to admit that he would forever prioritise the team's achievements ahead of his personal milestones. Furthermore. Bumrah shared that not getting carried away with all the successes coming his way was always what he focused on achieving.

"I feel really good. As a youngster, I have seen my childhood heroes winning this great award, so yeah, very happy to be at the 'receiving end'. Winning the T20 World Cup was really special, and the memories that we made after that are going to be close to me forever. So, I will always pick us winning the T20 World Cup first," shared Bumrah while speaking to the broadcasters.

"It feels really good to get honours from the legends of the game, but I always take things with a pinch of salt. I'm very happy with the honour, but I don't let myself get too high. My feet are on the ground, and I'm really happy with the accolades that I get," he further added.

Bumrah was exceptional on Australia tour and England at home

Speaking of Bumrah's performances, he was quite magical in the Test series against England and Australia, respectively. The opposition batters never really looked comfortable against the pacer, irrespective of the scenario in which Bumrah came onto the bowl.

As far as his exploits in the T20 World Cup are concerned, he was adjudged the Player of the Tournament for his stellar display in West Indies and the United States of America. In the eight innings he featured in, Bumrah picked up 15 wickets at a marvellous average of 8.26, conceding runs at a frugal 4.17 runs per over.
