BCCI secretary Jay Shah is all set to take over the position of chairmanship at the International Cricket Council (ICC). He will hold the chair officially from December 1 and at the age of 35 will become the youngest chairman of the ICC. But before the professional promotion, he has personal reason to celebrate as he welcomed his first child.

Jay Shah being blessed with a baby was announced by Arun Dhumal, Indian Premier League Chairman, during the ongoing IPL 2025 mega auction in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. While announcing the news, Dhumal described the veteran as “India’s off field captain”. Speaking of the captain, Indian captain Rohit Sharma also welcomed his second child few days before.

Meanwhile, Shah will replace New Zealand’s Greg Barclay as the new ICC Chairman and he was elected unequivocally in the elections held in August. With him poised to assume his new role, the find for the next BCCI secretary is in full swing. Several reports are abuzz with Rohan Jaitley’s name coming up for the coveted position while some reports have stated that no name has been shortlisted yet.

I'm delighted to have Shreyas back and to be working with him: Ponting

The IPL 2025 mega auction saw Rishabh Pant breaking the record for the highest grossing player in the history of the IPL. He was sold to Lucknow Super Giants for a whopping INR 27 crore. Just behind him, Shreyas Iyer was sold to Punjab Kings for another big chunk of money. He will be wearing the PBKS jersey after being signed by them for INR 26.75 crore.

"I haven't spoken to him yet, Shreyas, about it. I tried to call him before, but he didn't answer his phone. So I mean, I've worked with him in the past. He's been a successful captain in IPL before. I've worked with him for three or four years at Delhi, and obviously, he's a championship-winning captain from last season. So we've got someone there that can do the job if that's the way we decide to go. So I'm delighted to have him back and to be working with him," PBKS Head Coach Ricky Ponting said.
