Indian left-arm fast bowler Jaydev Unadkat has extended his contract with Sussex County Cricket Club, until 2026. Unadkat joined hands with the team back in 2023 when he first donned the club's colors. He claimed 15 wickets in just three matches during his debut season. The Indian pacer's performance improved further in 2024, where he played a crucial role in Sussex's Division Two title victory. In five games, Unadkat picked 22 wickets at an average of 14.40.

"When I came to Hove last year, I wasn't sure what was on offer in the County Championship and how would I adapt to it. But after a few games now, I can definitely say Hove is my home away from home and Good Old Sussex by The Sea has my heart," Unadkat was quoted as saying in a release by the team.

Jaydev Unadkat is the most popular and nicest guys any team could wish for: Paul Farbrace

Sussex's head coach, Paul Farbrace, shared similar feelings and spoke about Unadkat's on-field skills and his off-field qualities.

"Everyone at Hove is very pleased and excited that Jaydev [Unadkat] has signed a two-year extension and will be returning to the Club for the next two seasons. Jaydev's quality on the pitch has been so evident for everyone else to see, but just as importantly his qualities as a person make him one of the most popular and nicest guys any team could wish for," Sussex head coach Paul Farbrace said.

With the extension, Unadkat will be now available for the final run-in of both the 2025 and 2026 County Championship seasons. Along with representing Sussex, he is also leading the Saurashtra side in India's domestic cricket.
