KL Rahul will aim to play a big innings against RCB: Ravi Shastri
KL Rahul scored only 63 runs from three matches so far in IPL 2023.
Even though KL Rahul has been a very consistent batter in the history of the Indian Premier League, the season so far has not been promising. In three matches, the 30-year-old has scored only 63 runs, which is a huge matter of concern, especially when he is expected to fire and lead from the front.
Nevertheless, former India cricketer Ravi Shastri believes Lucknow Super Giants’ next game against Royal Challengers Bangalore can be the perfect platform for Rahul to prove the doubters wrong. Notably, in 12 innings against RCB, Rahul has smashed 610 runs at a strike rate of 147.69 and thus, Shastri is confident that he can repeat the same once again in the forthcoming match.
“I think he (KL Rahul) will aim to play a big innings but with a rapid approach. With the presence of Kyle Mayers, Stoinis and de Kock yet to come, LSG have a powerful batting line-up. So KL Rahul can take chances (for the big hits at the start),” Shastri told ESPNcricinfo ahead of match 15 of IPL.
If Rahul gets good batting conditions then he can set the game in 5-6 overs: Shastri
The 1983 World Cup winner also stated that Rahul is a destructive batter, and if he gets a proper batting surface, he can change the complexion of the game in just five to six overs.
“I have enjoyed watching him bat. He is a destructive player, and if he gets good batting conditions, then he can set the game in 5-6 overs. He can create a platform for his side for a big total,” Shastri added.
Notably, Quinton de Kock will be available for the game against RCB. The South Africa international is in phenomenal touch and is very likely to feature in the playing XI. In that case, Kyle Mayers might get demoted to number three. On the other hand, Stoinis might get dropped to make way for the Proteas stumper-batter.
