With a 1-0 lead in the four-match series, India are all set for the second Test against Australia. The second Test will be played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Friday, February 17.
Kuldeep didn’t play in the opening Test against Australia at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur. That came after he emerged as the Player of the Match in India’s first Test against Bangladesh at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chattogram.
He won the award for scalping eight wickets and for his valuable knock of 40 runs in the first innings. However, India registered an emphatic 188-run win against the hosts in the opening Test of the two-match series. However, Kuldeep might end up playing in the second Test in Delhi if the surface appears spin friendly.
India bundled out Australia for 177 in their first innings of the opening Test. The Indian spin duo of Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin picked five and three wickets respectively. India in their first innings posted a mammoth 400 taking 223 runs lead on Day 2, with Rohit Sharma scoring a ton and Jadeja and Axar Patel scoring half-centuries. The Pat Cummins-led Australia in their second innings were all out for 91 as India won the first Test by an innings and 132 runs.
