Defending champions Jaffna Kings will take on Galle Gladiators in the first match of the tournament.
After initially being postponed due to the economic crisis in Sri Lanka, the much-awaited Lanka Premier League is finally set to begin on Thursday, December 6. The opening fixture of the third edition of the tournament will see the defending champions Jaffna Kings take on Galle Gladiators at the Mahinda Rajapaksa International Stadium in Hambantota.
A total of 24 games will be played during the Lanka Premier League 2022, with the finals of the competition scheduled to take place at the R Premadasa Stadium on December 23 in Colombo. The top four teams of the league stage will qualify for the playoffs out of which, the top two will battle it out for a place in the finals.
This season, a lot of foreign players, including the likes of Sikandar Raza, Shoaib Malik, Romario Shepherd, Ravi Bopara, Iftikhar Ahmed, James Neesham, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Carlos Braithwaite and Fabian Allen will be seen playing in the league.
