In a strategic move by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), the national squad has undergone a significant reshuffling, with an eye towards meticulous workload management ahead of the highly anticipated ODI World Cup. As the cricketing fraternity eagerly awaits the clash between Bangladesh and New Zealand later this month, BCB has opted to rest a cadre of key players for the initial two one-day internationals.

Taking the reins in the absence of the illustrious Shakib Al Hasan, Litton Das is poised to don the captain's hat. Among the prominent names offered respite are the seasoned campaigner Mushfiqur Rahim, the talented all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz, and the formidable pace trio comprising Taskin Ahmed, Hasan Mahmud, and Shoriful Islam.

Intriguingly, rain gods have played their part in thwarting the Bangladeshi cricketers' practice sessions, rendering them somewhat undercooked as they approach the first installment of the three-match ODI series against New Zealand. Addressing this challenge, the stand-in skipper alluded to the possibility of resorting to mind games in their quest for success against the formidable Kiwis.

“We were unable to work on our tactics as we couldn't train in the last couple of days. I don't know yet how much we could practise [today] and maybe we have to play mind games. It's a mental game, and they have got some quality spinners in the side," Litton Das was quoted as saying by The Daily Star.

‘But our main aim will be to win matches’ – Litton Das makes a clear statement

While the stylish right-hander has grappled with a recent dip in form, he shared his determination to rediscover his batting prowess. The 28-year-old opener emphasized the collective aspiration of his team - securing victories. Das noted,

"Every player wants to perform but maybe one or two players can click in a game. Everyone can't perform in the same game and it will happen in the future as well. Everyone will try and if luck permits, he will do well. But our main aim will be to win matches."
