West Indies suffered a 101-run defeat to Bangladesh in the second Test at Sabina Park in Jamaica. The two-match Test series was drawn 1-1. Questions have been raised on the batting unit. In the first innings, the hosts were bundled for 146 runs and 185 in the second. In the first innings, eight of their batters scored in single digits while in the second, Kavem Hodge registered a half-century and skipper Kraigg Brathwaite made 43 but there was little support from the others.

Opening up on the poor batting show, Brathwaite stated that the players weren’t at the level they should be. He noted that the players failed to execute under pressure and lacked intent in both innings. He opened up on the positives as well and mentioned that the mindset of the players needs to change to produce better performances.

“Not to the level where we know it can be. They're young guys in terms of the amount of games played. In pressure situations, it's about executing better. Our execution as batters can be a lot better. I believe it's something that has to be done - in terms of mindset, it should change. Have to work on as a group about having the intent in both innings. Still a lot of positives. Greaves getting his first hundred. Bowling wise we were good. Jayden bowling that spell was really good. There's a period before the next series. Have to come back and believe in ourselves,” Brathwaite said.

Our fast bowling group has been gradually improving: Taskin Ahmed

Bangladesh pacer Taskin Ahmed picked up 11 wickets and was adjudged Player of the Series alongside Jayden Seales. After sealing the series, the 29-year-old opened up and stated that the fast bowling group in the Bangladesh team is gradually improving and that the board is preparing good pitches to help the seamers.

“Really happy for this. Wasn't easy to come back in Test cricket again. Had a bad shoulder. Have worked really hard for this, and hopefully many more to come. We are working really hard and because of the process we are following, we are doing well. Last three years our fast bowling group has been gradually improving. BCB also trying to get good wickets for fast bowlers. Hopefully, we will get more good pace bowlers in Bangladesh in future,” Taskin said.
