Mitchell Marsh, Cameron Green unavailable for Sheffield Shield final
Western Australia to play Tasmania in the Shield Shield final.
Western Australian all-rounders Mitchell Marsh and Cameron Green will be missing the upcoming Sheffield Shield final against Tasmania, starting March 21. Notably, they are slated to fly to India for the 17th edition of the Indian Premier League before the final, which ruled them out of the summit clash. Deemed as Australia’s next T20I skipper, Marsh will join the Delhi Capitals squad in Vizag, while Green will be travelling to Bengaluru for the mega ‘RCB unbox’ event on March 19.
Green has played a couple of matches for Western Australia earlier in the Shield. He has a century against Tasmania this season but the current focus is to do well for RCB in IPL 2024 to seal his berth for the upcoming T20 World Cup, which is slated to begin on June 1. Meanwhile, both Marsh and Green required a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from Cricket Australia for missing the Shield final and the authority permitted them to play IPL in India.

Update on Richardson, Turner and Stoinis
Meanwhile, Jhye Richardson and Ashton Turner are also expected to feature in the IPL after undergoing serious injuries. Notably, Richardson suffered a side string during the BBL, for which, he was ruled out of the series against West Indies. He recently started bowling at full capacity but his workload will be closely monitored by the Australian medical team and also by Delhi Capitals.
On the other hand, Turner has not played any match since undergoing knee surgery during the last edition of the BBL. He was bought in by Lucknow Super Giants, where the spinner would reunite with his former head coach Justin Langer.
Notably, Marcus Stoinis and Jason Behrendorff, who have not played a lot of matches due to back injuries are also IPL-bound. Meanwhile, the Australian players are yet to reach India but are expected to arrive by the end of the week.
