Former India skipper MS Dhoni along with Garuda Aerospace has launched a surveillance drone named Droni. As per a report in The Economic Times, it is a battery-operated quadcopter surveillance drone and will mostly be used in the agricultural sector.

The veteran cricketer had unveiled the camera drone at The Global Drone Expo in Chennai last year and it has been launched now.

At the launch event, the 41-year-old revealed that he got interested in drones during the COVID-19 lockdown and also learned how they can play an important role for everyone in the agricultural field.

Meanwhile, Agnishwar Jayaprakash, founder and CEO of Garuda Aerospace stated how it can help different sectors as well. With this product, he wants to put India on the global map as a hub of superior quality drones.

“Our Droni drone is indigenous and can be used for different surveillance purposes, and by ensuring that the product is made in India, we hope to not just become Aatmanirbhar for the demand of drones but also place India on the global map as a hub for superior quality, safe and secure drone and drone-based solutions,” said Jayaprakash.

Dhoni’s mission to improve the agriculture sector is nothing new. The Ranchi-born cricketer was spotted farming during the lockdown and recently along with Garuda, the cricketer released a short film ‘Kheton Ke Kaptan’, with the aim to encourage youth and farmers to farm well.

The concept of the film was designed by Garuda and was jointly produced by Dhoni Entertainment. The purpose of the film was to teach farmers how to use drones and teach them how Garuda drones can help farmers with pesticide spraying, surveillance, and mapping while saving water and time.

“Farmers are the heroes of our nation and we at Garuda Aerospace have been committed to designing drones that help farmers spray pesticides altogether and make their lives easier Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the brand ambassador of Garuda Aerospace and former Captain of the Indian Cricket team salutes the farmers as they are the future,” Agnishwar Jayaprakash added.
