Nicholas Pooran got his Caribbean Premier League 2024 campaign off to a rollicking start as his blistering 97-run knock helped Trinbago Knight Riders ease past St Kitts and Nevis Patriots on Sunday.
Nicholas Pooran broke Chris Gayle's record for the most number of sixes hit by a batter in a calendar year. The wicketkeeper-batter achieved this impressive feat during the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2024 clash between Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) and St Kitts and Nevis Patriots on Sunday, September 1, at Warner Park, Basseterre, St Kitts.
The legendary Gayle had hit 135 sixes in 2015. Pooran took his tally of sixes to 139 in 2024 as he hit nine of them during his scintillating knock of 97 off 43 balls on Sunday. The legendary West Indies batter has multiple entries in the list. Out of the top 10 entries, 6 belong to Gayle - for hitting the most sixes in a single year. However, this was Pooran's first entry into the top 10 list.
