England Test skipper Ben Stokes has heaped praise on fellow teammate Harry Brook after the latter's brilliant exploits against New Zealand in the opening Test of the two-match Test series against New Zealand.

England are currently touring New Zealand for a two-match Test series, wherein in the first Test, the Three Lions completely dominated New Zealand to seal a comfortable and mammoth 267-run victory at the Bay Oval. Harry Brook starred for England in both of their innings.

He will break it: Ben Stokes names major world record Harry brook can break easily

While speaking during the post-match presentation, Ben Stokes stated that he was immensely impressed with the way Harry Brook had come up over the years and already made a successful name for himself in international cricket. He stated that the youngster should just continue his momentum from here, and labelled him a "global superstar".

"I think he will go on to be a global superstar. The more senior guys with the bat have to take a lot of credit for allowing the young guys to go out and express themselves," said Stokes as quoted by Independent.co.uk.

Stokes has broken England's head coach Brendon McCullum's record of hitting the highest number of sixes in Test cricket. He equaled the feat in December 2022 against Pakistan and broke the record in the first Test against New Zealand. On breaking the record, he received massive praise from the man who initially held the record himself, Brendon McCullum. Stokes now has 109 sixes in Test cricket, while McCullum had scored107 sixes.

Speaking about it, Stokes was humble and graceful enough to admit that Harry Brook is definitely in line to break the special record, given the amount of talent the 23-year-old possesses in terms of power-hitting and shot-selection.

"When it went, it was like I picked Brendon up off my shoulder and dropped him. He said 'well done' to me and I just said 'Brooky will probably break it in the next 20 games the way he is going'. I can't see it being around too long if Harry Brook is in the side, which I imagine he will be for a long time going forward," Stokes concluded.
