NZ vs IND, 3rd ODI: Rishabh Pant receives medical assistance inside dressing room
Rishabh Pant was dismissed for just ten runs in the third ODI against New Zealand.
India’s wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant was spotted getting medical treatment in the dressing room during the first innings of the third ODI against New Zealand and it remains to be seen if he is fit enough for the second half of the game. Pant came in at number four in the batting line-up and hit two boundaries before he was dismissed for a 16-ball ten.
The pressure has been piling up on the left-hander as he hasn’t been able to make big scores since the ODI century he scored against England in July. The fact that Sanju Samson has been benched despite being in form to accommodate all-rounder Deepak Hooda in the line-up hasn’t gone down well with the fans and the time is running for Pant in limited-overs cricket.
He is struggling to make his bat talk and his recent numbers are definitely not helping his case.
The game plan changes when you are batting at different positions: Rishabh Pant
Meanwhile, ahead of the third ODI against New Zealand, Pant had a chat with popular broadcaster Harsha Bhogle and revealed his preferred batting positions in different formats. He further noted that the team comes first and showed his willingness to do well for the country.
"I would like to open the batting in T20Is, and in ODIs, I would like to bat at No.4 or 5. In Tests, I am batting at no. 5 only. Obviously, the game plan changes when you are batting at different positions, but at the same time, the coach and captain think about what is best for the team and where the player can contribute the most.
Wherever I get the opportunity, I will try to do my best. In ODIs, you do not need to premeditate much, but you have to do that in T20s," Pant told Amazon Prime Video.
