Afghanistan (AFG) and Pakistan (PAK) will square off in the 22nd match of the ongoing ICC Men’s World Cup 2023 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, on Monday, October 23. 

The Hashmatullah Shahidi-led side are coming off a 149-run defeat against New Zealand in their previous game at the same stadium. After deciding to bowl first after winning the toss, Afghanistan conceded 288 runs in the allotted overs. The Afghan batters failed to chase down the target as they were bundled out for 139 in just 34.4 overs. However, Afghanistan stunned the cricketing world with a sensational win over defending champions England in their third match.

Pakistan, on the other hand, are coming off two consecutive defeats against India and Australia, respectively. It is worth mentioning that the Babar Azam-led side made the best of their starts with wins over the Netherlands and Sri Lanka. Speaking about their previous game, Pakistan gave away 367 runs against the five-time champions. The batters struggled as they fell short of 305 in 45.3 overs.

Notably, the sky will be cloudy during the day and night.
