Australia's performance in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 has been far from ideal as they prepare to face Sri Lanka in the 14th match at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on October 16. The Australian team has faced a rocky start in this tournament, suffering losses in both of their initial matches. Their first match saw them being outperformed by India, and in the subsequent game, they suffered a significant defeat of 134 runs at the hands of South Africa in the ongoing World Cup 2023.

On the flip side, Sri Lanka have encountered challenging outcomes in their initial two matches of the tournament. In their first match, they were overwhelmed by South Africa, conceding an imposing total of over 428 runs. Subsequently, in a match against Pakistan in Hyderabad, Sri Lanka faced another setback as Pakistan successfully chased down a target of 345 runs, securing victory with six wickets in hand and ten balls to spare.

The weather conditions in Lucknow for the upcoming match are anticipated to be warm and muggy. The temperature is projected to reach approximately 34 degrees Celsius during the game, and there are no signs of rain as there will be no cloud cover to offer relief. Humidity levels are expected to hover around 36 per cent. As the sun sets, the temperature is predicted to decrease to 28 degrees Celsius.

Dew might be the only saving grace at the Ekana Stadium

The Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow boasts a recently re-laid pitch for the World Cup matches, which has proven to be favourable for both batting and bowling. The pitch offers good bounce and provides assistance to spinners as the match progresses. Given that this is a day-night match, it's important to note that dew is likely to accumulate in the latter part of the game. Consequently, the team that wins the toss is likely to opt for batting first with the aim of setting a challenging total on the scoreboard and then looking to chase the target under the floodlights.
