The ICC World Cup 2023, Match 13 is scheduled at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, pitting England (ENG) against Afghanistan (AFG) on Sunday, October 15. The contest commences at 2 pm IST, marking the third World Cup showdown at this iconic venue.  As we approach this clash, it's noteworthy that Afghanistan has encountered England in just 2 ODIs and 3 T20Is, with both World Cup encounters leaning in England's favour.

England enter this clash buoyed by a commanding victory over Bangladesh, a 137-run triumph that significantly bolstered their Net Run Rate (NRR) following a substantial defeat against New Zealand. Meanwhile, Afghanistan finds themselves in a challenging position, having suffered consecutive losses to both Bangladesh and India in their initial encounters. These setbacks have placed the Afghan side at the foot of the points table.

The England vs Afghanistan match is set to kick off at 2 pm IST as a day-night fixture. Anticipate hot and partly sunny weather, with temperatures reaching approximately 36 degrees in the afternoon. As the evening approaches, it will cool down to around 27 degrees. In classic fashion, dew is expected to be a decisive factor in the game.

The Delhi pitch is deviating from its usual nature

The wicket at Delhi's Arun Jaitley Stadium has defied its traditional character in the ongoing World Cup 2023. Historically renowned for being a spinning track, it has, in contrast, become a paradise for batters. The trend was set when South Africa piled up 428/5 in the opening match. Afghanistan, too, managed a respectable 272 against India. Given England and Afghanistan's current batting form, another high-scoring spectacle is expected as they prepare to face off at this venue. If a team wins the toss, they might opt to chase, taking the conditions into account.
