ODI World Cup 2023: Ravi Shastri's 'underwear' remark for messenger Ishan Kishan goes viral
Ravi Shastri had an interesting comment to make after Ishan Kishan carried a message for Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer.
As the Indian team defeated South Africa in game 37 of the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023, the spotlight was captured by former Indian cricketer Ravi Shastri for his comments on Indian batter Ishan Kishan.
During the game, when Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer were on the field building their partnership, Kishan walked out between an over with a message for the two batters in the middle. As the incident was captured on television, Ravi Shastri had a hilarious take on the same.
Shastri opined that if anything goes wrong, and one of the batters is dismissed, it will be Kishan who is held accountable. “Agar aisa vaisa kuch ho gaya to chaddi Kishan ki khichegi galat message dene ke liye.” (If anything wrong happens, it will be Kishan who will be held accountable),” Shastri said hilariously on air.
The moment happened when Kohli steadily building towards his century, the occasion was extra special as the ace Indian batter completed his ton, equalling Sachin Tendulkar’s ODI record on his 35th birthday.
India maintain pole position in World Cup standings
Talking of the game between India and South Africa, the clash began with the Indian team coming in to bat first. After Rohit Sharma propelled the side to a good start, it was Kohli and Shreyas Iyer that helped the Men in Blue post a big total on the board.
Kohli scored an unbeaten 101 off 121 whereas Iyer amassed 77 runs in 87 deliveries to guide India to 326 in the first innings. Aiming to defend the target, the hosts put in a just as impressive performance with the ball.
Ravindra Jadeja was the highest wicket taker with five wickets to his name, with Mohammed Shami and Kuldeep Yadav taking two each and Mohammed Siraj striking once. South Africa were bundled out for just 83 runs as India won the game by 243 runs and maintained first place in the standings and extended their unbeaten run to eight wins.
