The recently concluded T20I series was a forgettable one for Sanju Samson. In the five innings he featured, Samson could manage just 51 runs. Most of the other batters in the batting lineup had a fine series in terms of their personal performances were concerned. Despite the top-order batter's woes, India ended up winning the series by a convincing 4-1 margin.

Former Indian cricketer, Ravichandran Ashwin, urged Samson to promptly work on his vulnerability against the short delivery.

"If Sanju keeps getting dismissed like this, as a batter, the mind will start playing tricks. "(It will force you to think), 'the bowler is bowling a certain way and I am getting dismissed like this, is the bowler bowling well or do I have a shortcoming? Will I be able to adapt?' Once so many questions arise, then it becomes difficult," shared Ashwin in a video on his YouTube channel.

The time has come for him to take some time out and change his approach: Ashwin

The legendary spinner also shed light on Suryakumar Yadav's form. He advised the T20I skipper to grind it out during the practice sessions in a bid to refine his batting style.

"I can understand it happening in one or two games, but it is quite surprising. When you know you are being attacked in a certain way, there should be a different approach to that ball or just avoid it and force the bowler to bowl at your strengths. Suryakumar Yadav is a very experienced guy. He has a lot of ability. One can say he brought about a change of guard in Indian batting, showing the way. But the time has come for him to take some time out and change his approach," added Ashwin.

For the unversed, Suryakumar had an even lean run with the bat. He accounted for only 28 runs in five innings. India are scheduled to play three ODIs against England, with the series set to commence on Thursday, February 6.
