Pakistan bowlers thought Morne Morkel was nothing in front of them: Basit Ali

Former Pakistan cricketer Basit Ali recently claimed that the national team's bowlers undermined the coaching efforts of former South African pacer, Morne Morkel during his brief stint with the side. Ali expressed his disappointment after India's dominating performance against Bangladesh in the first Test at Chennai, where the Indian bowling unit, now under Morkel's coaching, showed exceptional skill and strategy.
Pakistan's recent struggles and India's success have brought the spotlight onto the teams' respective bowling units. While Pakistan suffered a 0-2 Test series defeat against Bangladesh at home, India is coming off a 280-run victory over the same side. Ali didn't mince words when addressing the attitude of Pakistani pacers.
"The Pakistani bowlers consider themselves to be bigger than cricket. They thought that Morkel was nothing in front of us," Basit said on his YouTube channel.
The difference is of mindset, thinking and class: Basit Ali
He pointed fingers at prominent names like Shaheen Afridi, Naseem Shah, and Haris Rauf and their mindset which contributed to the team's poor performance under Morkel's guidance during the World Cup.
Morkel, who parted ways with Pakistan following their T20 World Cup exit, has now joined the Indian coaching staff. His impact was immediately visible in India's match against Bangladesh, where bowlers like Jasprit Bumrah and Ravichandran Ashwin delivered stellar performances.
"We got to know the difference. This is the same Bangladesh played against Pakistan, where it seemed as if Pakistan were completely on the back foot. This is the same Bangladesh that whitewashed Pakistan. The difference is of mindset, thinking and class," he added.
Ali had earlier even compared India's current bowling lineup to Pakistan's legendary pacers, including Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis, and Shoaib Akhtar, proving his point about the decline in Pakistan's bowling abilities.
