A lot of controversies have rocked the cricket board for quite some time.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has perhaps finally been able to complete the selection of its permanent board members, who are scheduled to take office from the time of their appointment. It is to be noted that the completion of appointment of the selection committee is with regard to men's cricket in Pakistan.
Haroon Rasheed was recently appointed the chairman of the selection committee panel, and he will be closely associated in his administrative work with yesteryear Pakistan internationals Kamran Akmal, Mohammad Sami, and Yasir Hameed.
PCB rocked by too many controversies
The PCB had been undergoing through a lot of drama and miscommunication within its governing body for quite sometime, starting with the infamous episode of former Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Ramiz Raja being sacked from his position and Najam Sethi being appointed in his place. Since then, Raja has been sharing a very cold relation with the PCB and hasn't left a single ooportunity to vent out his anger against the board and accuse them.
Also of late, the most infamous incident which raised a lot of eyebrows was the appointment of Mickey Arthur as an "online coach" for the Pakistan's men's cricket, which even left former cricketers like Shahid Afridi scratching his head.
Speaking about the completion of appointment of the new committee, former cricketer Kamran Akmal will be heading as the chair for the U19 men's selection panel, which also has the names of Tauseef Ahmed, Arshad Khan, Shahid Nazir and Shoaib Khan.
Earlier in an interview, PCB Chairman Najam Sethi had stated that Rasheed was a member of the 14-member Managing Committee (MC) but later resigned after being appointed chairman of the selection committee in place of Afridi. However, he has now been taken back into the Managing Committee. So, he would continue to play the dual role (as MC member and chief selector).
