The semi-finalists of the Champions Trophy 2025 have already been decided with the matches to be decided in the current ongoing match between India and New Zealand who are playing the last game in Group A. South Africa, the table-toppers from Group B, are currently awaiting the match result from India vs New Zealand game to know who they will be up against on March 05.

In the ongoing tournament, there has been huge debate on India having an advantage playing at one venue during the entire ICC event. One of the players who have opened up on this topic is South Africa pace bowling all-rounder Marco Jansen. The left-arm pacer has said that despite India playing all of their games in Dubai, it will not make much of a difference since it is the team who is better on the day that wins the game.

“If we play in Dubai, and it's against India, obviously they've had training and that kind of stuff, so they will be more used to the conditions. But we've also played in Dubai, so it's not something new. We play spin really, really well. So I don't think it's that much or that too much of an advantage. I just think it all comes down to, on the day, who plays better,” Marco Jansen said as quoted by Times of India.

Jansen on his spell against England

Apart from the semi-finals, the speedster also talked about his spell in the last game against England where he was the Player of the Match for his incredible spell of 3/39 in seven overs he bowled where he got the wickets, breaking the backbone of English batting unit, which eventually set an easy chase for the Proteas in a formality win.

“I was hoping for some swing, but then obviously there wasn't too much in the air. There was a little bit of nip at the start and then once the ball got older there wasn't really much deviation from the wicket. For me, it was just backing my options, which is probably hitting at a hard length and not erring on the fuller side, rather on the shorter side. For us it's just all about going out and bowling with good intent because then if you bowl with good intent … you tend to have more energy on the ball and then things generally happen,” Jansen added.
